FACE of the ARTIST: BLUE GALLERY PRESENTS PORTRAITS BY 17 ARTISTS
By Nick Malewski, Kansas City Star ... posted Oct 10, 2009
Sometimes portraits are not so much facial likenesses as they are representations
of an artist’s mind.
Kelly Kuhn, owner and director of the Blue Gallery, has curated a charming exhibit
of mostly paintings by 17 artists who, through their various approaches to the figure,
express more about their psyches than about their human subjects. ... story

CLEVELAND'S ART GALLERIES HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENTAL ART FESTIVAL
By Steven Litt, The Cleveland Plain Dealer .. posted Oct 4, 2009
Cleveland artists love to complain that the city lacks a robust gallery scene
and that good work never gets the attention it deserves.
Uh, sorry, that's not the case at the moment. The city's nonprofit and commercial
galleries are knocking themselves out this fall, in the middle of a recession, to
pay homage to scores of Cleveland artists. ...

USING THELYMNER'S ARTWALK
There are three viewing methods on TheLymner's ARTWalk,
-
DYNAMIC VIEW is built for the lastest web browsers. This view requires
that JavaScript and IFrames be allowed.
-
DHTML VIEW is built for those browsers and viewers who allow JavaScript,
but do not use or allow IFrames.
-
BASIC VIEW is built for the viewer who does not feel comfortable allowing
Javascript and IFrames.
DYNAMIC VIEW gives the viewer the broadest range of visual experience and
use. On all three platforms, Dynamic, DHTML, and Basic, links are listed geographically
by first name, for most people remember first names easier than last names. In the
Dynamic view platform, the user is also able to browse through Studio Walking, Gallery
Walking, and Museum Walking without leaving the base from which they begin. In other
words, if a viewer is on the Studio Walking page and viewing studios in New York,
they can chose to view Galleries or Museums in New York without leaving the Studio
page.
DYNAMIC viewing also provides the viewer with videos from YouTube and elsewhere
that related to the ARTWalk that they are perusing. A different video is presented
each time the page is reloaded.
DHTML VIEW gives the viewer a narrower range of visual experience and use,
for while JavaScript is still used for presentation, IFrames are not. On all three
platforms, Dynamic, DHTML, and Basic, links are listed geographically by first
name, for most people remember first names easier than last names. However,
because IFrames are not part of the viewing platform, the user must move from one
page to another when perusing the various presentation pages. Therefore, if a view
is looking a links for Ohio on the Studio Walking page, and wishes to look at Ohio
Gallery Walking links, they must first go to the Gallery Walking page, leaving the
Studio Walking page. For the highest level of viewing pleasure, please, allow IFrames
in addition to Javascript
DHTML viewing, like Dynamic viewing, also provides the viewer with videos
from YouTube and elsewhere that related to the ARTWalk that they are perusing. A
different video is presented each time the page is reloaded.
BASIC VIEW restricts the viewer standar HTML presentation of all links on
the page they are viewing because JavaScript and IFrames are not allowed. On all
three platforms, Dynamic, DHTML, and Basic, links are listed geographically
by first name, for most people remember first names easier than last names.
The user must move from one page to another when perusing the various presentation
pages. If the viewer wishs the looking a links for Ohio on the Studio Walking page,

Walking page, leaving the Studio Walking page. For the highest level of viewing
pleasure, please, allow IFrames and Javascript
BASIC viewing, does not provide the viewer with videos because JavaScript
has been disabled.

Artists: Lead Your Collector Clan
by Clint Watson
This issue's article is by
FineArtViews. publisher, Clint Watson.
Dear Artists,
Understanding the overwhelming desire of most people to belong to a group, a tribe
. . . . a clan, moves the artists from the idea of simply "marketing" to the more
powerful juggernaut of leading. And for those who "get it," the results can be astonishing.
................................................................
This overwhelming desire to belong to a clan is great news for every single artist.
People who are truly interested in your artwork want to be part of your clan. Your
job is to welcome them into your clan, to teach them the "cultural rules" of being
your follower, and to communicate with them. In short, your job is to lead them.
People who have purchased your artwork in the past, they are in the clan too. They
want you to lead them. They want to be part of your story. What they do not want
is to purchase your artwork and then never hear from you again (there are always
a few collectors who will prove me wrong, but the vast majority of people who buy
from you want to hear from you.)
